Myopia or nearsightedness is a refractive error which can be defined as eye focusing disorder. This is not eye disease. In this condition eye does not refract light properly to a single focus to see images clearly. In myopia close objects look clear but distant objects look blurred.
It can occur in children too between 8-12 years age. After this if not treated it get worsen between 20-40 age.
Type of Myopia
High Myopia- Severe Myopia is affecting in 20-40 Age group mostly. It can be corrected with contact lenses, eye glasses, refractive surgery. People with this condition are on risk to develop Glaucoma, Cataracts and detached retina.
it is important to have regular eye examinations by an ophthalmologist to watch for changes in the retina
Low Myopia – if it is mild its called as low Myopia.
